The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Naman Dhir as Washington Sundar’s replacement in India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies.

The series will begin on October 6, with the first T20I scheduled to be played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Washington has been withdrawn from the T20I squad following a decision by the Senior Selection Committee in consultation with the team management. The move has been made keeping the upcoming Test series against New Zealand in mind.

With the Ranji Trophy season set to begin on October 11, Washington will now have the opportunity to play red-ball cricket for his state team and prepare for the Test series.

Naman Dhir will take Washington’s place in the T20I squad.
