Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged every citizen to actively participate in the Swachh Andhra Mission (Clean AP) to achieve its ambitious cleanliness goals. Reviewing sanitation efforts across the state, he emphasized the importance of setting and achieving tangible targets.
“Everybody should be a stakeholder in achieving Swachh Andhra’s goals,” Naidu stated in an official release.
As part of the state’s ongoing sanitation drive, the government is organizing Swatchandhra-Swarnandhra programs on the third Saturday of every month, focusing on different themes. In January, the theme was ‘New Year Clean Start,’ while February’s theme, ‘Source-Resource,’ highlights sustainable development through resource utilization.
“Swatchandhra means more than just cleanliness—it is about fostering an ethical mindset, maintaining neat homes, villages, schools, and workplaces,” Naidu said. He stressed that keeping public spaces clean, including industrial areas and places of worship, is a shared responsibility.
To ensure impactful execution, the Pollution Control Board has been tasked with addressing waste management and deforestation concerns. Officials provided a progress report on key sanitation initiatives, including the construction of toilets, waste segregation, and door-to-door garbage collection.
Ranking districts on their sanitation performance, NTR district led with 129 points, followed by Visakhapatnam at 127 points. Meanwhile, Alluri Seetharamaraju district ranked last with 81 points.
With a strong action plan and public participation, Andhra Pradesh is making significant strides toward a cleaner, greener future.
