Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Friday welcomed the NDA government’s reported initiative to engage with various political parties on the proposed Delimitation Bill, describing it as a reflection of the Centre’s commitment to consensus-building and cooperative federalism.
In an official statement, Telangana BJP Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge N.V. Subash said the Narendra Modi-led government has consistently demonstrated its willingness to engage with all stakeholders, including opposition parties, on issues of national importance.
“The NDA government’s outreach to regional parties, including those that have expressed reservations on the delimitation exercise, reflects its inclusive approach to governance. Unlike the politics of confrontation and division witnessed in the past, the BJP believes that meaningful dialogue and consultation strengthen democracy and lead to better policy outcomes,” he said.
Subash noted that delimitation is a significant constitutional exercise with long-term implications for democratic representation across the country. Given its importance, efforts to build a broad political consensus are both necessary and welcome, he added.
Referring to recent media reports, he said the Centre is expected to take forward discussions on the Delimitation Bill during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. According to these reports, the government has initiated consultations with several regional parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), to understand their concerns and seek constructive engagement on the issue.
“The willingness of the Union government to listen to diverse viewpoints once again demonstrates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to democratic values and participative decision-making. Major national reforms become more effective when they are backed by wider political understanding and public confidence,” Subash observed.
He further stated that the BJP has always maintained that issues affecting the nation’s democratic framework should rise above partisan politics. Delimitation is not merely a political exercise but a constitutional responsibility aimed at ensuring fair and equitable representation for citizens.
Expressing optimism over the ongoing consultations, Subash said the Telangana BJP hopes that all political parties will participate in the discussions with a constructive mindset and contribute towards evolving a broad consensus.
“The nation expects political parties to place national interest above narrow political considerations. We are confident that through dialogue and democratic engagement, a balanced and widely acceptable outcome can be achieved,” he said.
The Telangana BJP reiterated its support for all efforts aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring fair representation while preserving the spirit of cooperative federalism and constitutional governance.
