Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his deputy Pawan Kalyan on Sunday paid tributes to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary, recalling his visionary leadership and lasting contributions to the nation’s progress.
The chief minister said Rao would always be remembered as a great leader who assumed the office of Prime Minister at a time when the country was facing challenging circumstances and, through his far-sighted vision, ushered in economic reforms that transformed India’s development trajectory.
“His (Rao’s) visionary leadership and invaluable contributions to the nation’s progress will continue to inspire generations. I offer my humble tributes to the revered leader’s sacred memory,” Naidu said in a post on ‘X’.
Similarly, Kalyan paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Rao, describing him as one of India’s most visionary statesmen, an exceptional scholar, former chief minister of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh and a former prime minister whose leadership transformed the course of the nation’s history.
He said Rao’s courage, foresight and landmark economic reforms opened new horizons for India’s growth and enhanced its global standing, while his remarkable intellect, administrative excellence and unwavering commitment to national progress remain an enduring source of inspiration.
“From the richness of Telugu literary heritage to the highest office of public service, PV Narasimha Rao exemplified wisdom, humility and visionary leadership. May his extraordinary legacy continue to inspire every Indian to serve the nation with wisdom, integrity and an unwavering commitment to progress,” Kalyan said in a post on ‘X’.
Rao was born on June 28, 1921 and passed away on December 23, 2004. He served as prime minister from June 21, 1991 to May 16, 1996 and is widely credited with initiating landmark economic reforms that liberalised the country’s economy and reshaped its development trajectory.
