Congress’s Old Habit: Abuse, Not Accountability, says BJP

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly condemned the outrageous and derogatory remarks made by Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it yet another desperate and disgraceful attempt by a sinking Congress to stay politically relevant.

In a sharply worded statement, the Telangana BJP leadership said Kharge’s comments, made during electioneering in Tamil Nadu, are not just an attack on an individual but a direct insult to the democratically elected office of the Prime Minister—an office that derives its legitimacy from the will of 140 crore Indians, not from the blessings of a political dynasty.

“Is this the level to which the Congress President has stooped? A man who has spent decades in public life should know the difference between political criticism and outright abuse. Or is this the new benchmark set by his party’s high command?” the party questioned.

The BJP reminded that this is not an isolated instance but a deeply entrenched Congress culture. From “maut ka saudagar” to “neech,” from mocking Modi as a “chaiwala” to a barrage of daily personal attacks, the Congress ecosystem has consistently chosen insult over ideology.

Yet, time and again, the people of India have responded decisively—rejecting not just the rhetoric, but the very politics of entitlement that fuels it.

“Every election has been a referendum on this arrogance,” the statement noted. “And every time, the people have delivered a clear and crushing verdict against the Congress and its dynastic leadership led by Rahul Gandhi.”

Referring specifically to Kharge’s remark calling the Prime Minister a “terrorist,” the BJP said such language is not only irresponsible but dangerously unbecoming of the head of a national party. “If this is the intellectual and moral depth of Congress leadership today, it only reflects the extent of its decay,” the statement added.

The party further said that frustration within Congress is understandable, given its continuous electoral decline and the growing disconnect with the aspirations of the people. However, it questioned whether such desperation justifies undermining constitutional institutions and lowering the dignity of public discourse.

“India has moved on from the politics of abuse and entitlement. The Congress, however, seems trapped in its own echo chamber—where abusing Modi is seen as strategy, and disrespecting institutions is considered boldness,” the BJP said.

The BJP expressed confidence that just as in the past, the people of Tamil Nadu and the rest of India will once again reject this brand of negative and divisive politics, reinforcing their faith in leadership that focuses on development, governance, and national pride rather than cheap rhetoric.
