Over 26,000 weddings conducted at Kalyana Vedika since 2016
Tirumala: The free wedding services offered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at the Kalyana Vedika in Tirumala are receiving overwhelming appreciation from newlywed couples, with over 26,000 marriages conducted at the venue since its inception.
TTD launched the initiative on April 25, 2016, to support financially disadvantaged Hindu families by providing a dignified and sacred space for weddings at no cost. Located on Papavinasanam Road in Tirumala, the Kalyana Vedika has so far witnessed a record 26,214 weddings as of May 1, 2025.
As part of the wedding package, TTD provides free services including archakas (priests), mangala vadyam (traditional wedding music), turmeric, saffron, and kankanam (sacred thread). Couples are required to bring only a minimal number of personal wedding accessories. Presence of the parents of both the bride and groom is mandatory, and if unavailable, valid supporting documents must be submitted.
After the ceremony, six members including the bride, groom, and their parents are allowed free darshan of Lord Venkateswara via the ₹300 special entry queue at the ATC complex. Each person also receives one free laddu post-darshan.
Online Booking Facility
Since May 9, 2016, TTD has enabled online booking for the Kalyana Vedika services through its official website https://ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. Applicants can access the service from nearby internet centers, entering personal and parental details of the bride and groom along with Aadhaar identification.
Documents required include proof of age (such as a 10th class marksheet, birth certificate, or transfer certificate), and a marriage date and time. Upon successful registration, an acknowledgment letter is issued, which must be presented at the venue at least six hours prior to the ceremony for final verification.
Only Hindu couples are eligible for the service, with the bride required to be at least 18 years old and the groom 21. Second marriages and love marriages are not permitted under this scheme. For queries, applicants can contact TTD at 0877-2263433.
On-Site Marriage Registration
To further ease the process, a Hindu Marriage Sub-Registrar’s Office has been established at Kalyana Vedika. Couples wishing to register their marriage on-site must submit proof of age, residence, wedding photographs, wedding hall receipt, and a marriage certificate issued by the local MRO confirming unmarried status prior to the ceremony.
This initiative by TTD continues to uphold tradition while offering practical support to thousands of underprivileged Hindu families, making Tirumala not only a spiritual destination but also a center for sacred new beginnings.
