Hyderabad: The state BJP’s spokesperson and grandson of late PV Narasimha Rao welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture in honoring the late President of India Pranab Mukherjee with a memorial in the national capital.
“Pranab Da richly deserves this recognition, and such initiatives reflect the respect he earned across the political spectrum,” he said.
He said, India is fortunate to have a non-partisan leader like Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, whose commitment to honouring the contributions of great leaders transcends political affiliations.
“I cannot forget how, in 2015, soon after assuming office, the Modi government graciously accepted our request for a memorial to my grandfather, the late P.V. Narasimha Rao. This decision exemplifies Modi Ji’s stature as one of the tallest leaders in Indian politics, someone who respects and acknowledges those who have shaped the nation, irrespective of their party affiliations,” he pointed out
He further said that it is worth noting that my grandfather, P.V. Narasimha Rao ji displayed similar magnanimity during his tenure as Prime Minister. A true statesman, he famously entrusted the then-Opposition leader, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, with the responsibility of representing India at the United Nations. Such gestures underline the essence of political maturity and statesmanship—qualities that go beyond partisan boundaries.
He said, unfortunately, the same cannot be said of certain other political entities that have consistently chosen to honour only their own family members, neglecting the towering contributions of leaders like my grandfather and Pranab Da. Such a narrow approach does a disservice to the nation and its democratic ethos.
In this context, he said the contributions of both P.V. Narasimha Rao ji and Pranab Mukherjee Da to Indian politics and their party are undeniable.
He hoped that the legacy of such statesmen would continue to inspire future generations of leaders to rise above divisive politics and prioritize the nation’s progress.
