Telangana CM assures measures for comprehensive development of tribal areas

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Adivasis and the scheduled areas inhabited by tribal communities.

During an interaction with a delegation of tribal and Adivasi MLAs who called on him on Monday, he said he would give special attention to resolving issues and challenges in the development of infrastructure in the tribal areas.

The delegation submitted a memorandum to the CM and also discussed development works in the tribal dominated areas, an official release said.

He assured the delegation that priority would be given to the construction of check dams in the areas, as such structures would cater to both drinking water and irrigation requirements.

The delegation brought to the chief minister’s notice the delay in road repair works due to objections raised by the forest department, and permissions for the construction of new roads being withheld in certain areas.

In a quick response, the CM directed the forest department officials to take a call on these matters expeditiously.

He also assured the MLAs that the proposal to increase the quota of ‘Indiramma’ houses for the poor in Adivasi and tribal regions would be given due consideration.
