APHCL inks landmark energy efficiency agreement with EESL at G20 Summit

Vijayawada: In a path-breaking initiative towards a greener and more sustainable future, the Andhra Pradesh State Housing Company Limited (APSHCL) on Saturday entered into a historic Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

This was done under the joint venture of PSUs – the Union Ministry of Power, and the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation Limited (APSEEDCO) – at the prestigious G20 global platform.

The agreement was signed and Exchanged between Ajay Jain Spl. Chief Secretary Housing dept & CEO EESL Vishal Kapoor in the presence of over 20 top leaders, Executives, and Experts at National & Global Levels. This historic alliance embraces a sustainable future, aiming to make Andhra Pradesh a shining example of energy efficiency on a global scale. The purpose of this landmark agreement is to supply 6 Lakhs LED bulbs, 3 Lakhs LED tube lights, and 3 Lakhs BLDC ceiling fans in the first Phase to the beneficiaries of the Jagananna Colonies under the prestigious Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu (NPI) scheme.

According to A. Chandrasekhar Reddy, the senior Advisor of EESL for government affairs and BD Southern Region, the Energy Efficiency(E.E) Housing project presented by Sol. CS Ajay Jain at the G20 Summit, Goa marks a significant milestone in the state’s pursuit for sustainable progress. It also helps poise to revolutionize the state’s energy landscape.

While Congratulating the state government for their pro-active and pro-public initiative towards providing fruits of Energy Efficiency to the common people, the CEO of EESL Vishal Kapoor said that the EESL, renowned for implementing the world’s largest energy efficiency portfolio, brings immense expertise to the E.E Project in AP housing scheme.

The EESL’s innovative solutions in the energy efficiency sector have already saved an impressive 47 billion kilowatt-hours of energy and reduced 26 million tons of carbon emissions annually. In the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) meeting in Goa, EESL hosted a prestigious event titled “Accelerating India’s Net Zero Transition through Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Cooling & Mobility,” graced by esteemed dignitaries, across the Globe.

On this occasion, Ajay Jain said that the objective of the State government is to offer top-quality, cost-effective, energy-efficient appliances to the beneficiaries of the ambitious “Navaratnalu Pedalankri Illu” housing scheme, which will become a major milestone. “The initiative aims to not only reduce electricity bills for the beneficiaries but also to enhance energy efficiency and protect the environment,” he added.

Overall, it is projected that using energy-efficient appliances in the 15.6 lakh houses under phase-1 of the housing scheme could save a substantial 1145 Million Units (MU)per annum. The present collaboration with EESL in AP, housing Energy Efficiency Program ensures the State strengthens energy efficiency while maintaining the highest Quality Electrical Appliances.

Stating that it was a momentous occasion that marks a significant step towards a greener energy-efficient future of the state, Ajay Jain, further stressed the government’s dedication to providing modern energy access to the beneficiaries and enhancing their quality of life. The ambitious energy-efficiency housing program will not only improve thermal comfort and reduce energy consumption but also set an example for the entire country.

In the pursuit of transforming the state into a pioneer of energy efficiency and pro-public welfare initiatives, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, aims to provide not just shelter but a safe, decent, and affordable place for families to live with dignity. “This energy efficiency housing program of Andhra Pradesh is the biggest in the country and one of the best in the world.,” Ajay Jain added.
