Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Saturday said the notice issued by the Election Commission of India to K. Kavitha’s newly floated political party is yet another indication of the Kalvakuntla family’s rapidly eroding credibility among the people of the state.
In a statement, BJP Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge N. V. Subash said the Election Commission’s action, based on over 1,100 complaints received against the proposed party name, reflects the growing loss of public confidence in the Kalvakuntla family.
He said Kavitha’s rebellion against the party founded by her father and her decision to launch a new political outfit amount to nothing more than an attempt to mislead the people of Telangana. “Neither constitutional institutions nor the people can ignore how rapidly the Kalvakuntla family is losing its credibility. They not only failed to honour the promises made to the people but also treated the party as a family enterprise and the state as their personal jagir,” he alleged.
Subash further said the BRS could face greater political humiliation in the coming years, as several members of the Kalvakuntla family continue to face serious allegations in different cases. He claimed that if the prevailing public mood is any indication, the party could witness further disintegration well before the 2028 Assembly elections.
“Telangana people seem to have given ‘VRS’ to ‘BRS’,” he said.
