BJP Spokesperson Condoles Dr. Singh’s Death

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP Spokeperson & Media Incharge N V Subhash expressed his deep condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Speaking in Hyderabad N.V. Subash, who is also the grandson of the late PV Narasimha Rao, paid tribute to Dr. Singh’s contributions to the nation, while offering a candid reflection on his political journey.

“Dr. Manmohan Singh was an extraordinary economist whose expertise helped shape the modern Indian economy,” Subash said. “However, his political journey is deeply intertwined with my grandfather, Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, who brought him into politics by appointing him as the Finance Minister. It was under PV Narasimha Rao’s visionary leadership that Dr. Singh initiated economic reforms that transformed India.”

Subash highlighted certain moments in Dr. Singh’s political career that remain points of contention. He recalled a comment by Dr. Singh on Rao’s tenure that cast a shadow over his mentor, as well as the decision during Dr. Singh’s Prime Ministership to deny PV Narasimha Rao a burial site in New Delhi, which deeply hurt the many people.

“While Dr. Singh is widely celebrated as the architect of India’s economic reforms, it is essential to remember the pivotal role played by PV Narasimha Rao in facilitating those reforms. History must give credit where it is due,” Subash emphasized.

Reflecting on Dr. Singh’s political career, Subash acknowledged his integrity as a bureaucrat-turned-politician. However, he noted that Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by challenges, including significant scams and his subjugation to party leadership. Subash pointed out the infamous incident where an ordinance passed by Singh’s cabinet was publicly dismissed by a party leader, an event that hurt many Indians who respected him for his dignity and intellect.

“Despite the controversies, our party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has always regarded Dr. Manmohan Singh as one of the finest human beings in Indian politics. His commitment to the nation’s progress is undeniable, and his legacy as an economist will inspire generations,” Subash stated.

He concluded by extending heartfelt condolences to Dr. Singh’s family and supporters.

‘’ I join along with millions of people around the world in mourning the loss of a great leader who made invaluable contributions to our nation.’’
