Chennai: Along with a dominance-extending series clean sweep, India will eye substantial runs from KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the third and final ODI against Afghanistan here on Saturday.

While Rahul’s spot in the one-day squad has never really been in doubt, Jaiswal would welcome a heavy knock to stake his claim for a space in the already-crowded top-order.

Jaiswal was brought back to the 50-over format for the first time since December 2025, and he was dismissed for 4 in the second match against the Afghans at Lucknow.

Fast bowler Harshit Rana was included in the Indian cricket team squad for the final ODI match against Afghanistan. India has already clinched the three-match series with victories in the first two games. The third match will take place in Chennai on Saturday. Harshit was missing from action after suffering a knee injury during the warm-up game against South Africa in Mumbai ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

The injury ruled him out of the competition, which saw India clinch the title with a win over New Zealand in the final. The injury also ruled him out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Harshit Rana, who has completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE), has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in a media release.

Rana, who has completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE), has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai. His last appearance for India came during the home T20I series against New Zealand in January this year. Rana has also been named in India’s squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England, where the team is scheduled to play seven T20Is.
