Ahmedabad: When IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar got a chance to say “Ee Sala Cup Namdu” (this year the cup is ours) after 18 years, the fans roared.
But when he said that “Virat Kohli deserved it more than anyone else”, the cheers were deafening as the legend grinned from ear to ear.
“It is really special for me, for Virat Kohli, and all the fans. Those who have supported for years, they all deserve it. It’s a great opportunity for me and a great learning for me to captain Kohli, he deserves it more than anyone else,” Patidar said.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Patidar said it was a great opportunity for him to captain the RCB side and have Kohli playing under him. The MP batter said it was a great learning curve for him to captain someone like and the coaches and the support staff deserved the win.
“For me, it is a great opportunity to captain this team and have Virat Kohli playing under me. A great learning for me to captain someone like Kohli. He deserves this more than anyone else. Virat Kohli, all the fans, coaches, and support staff deserve this. The way they have supported the players was beautiful,” said Kohli.
Patidar said that it was really special for him, Kohli, and all the fans who have supported them all these years. The RCB skipper said that the belief that they can win the IPL title came in when they won Qualifier 1.
“I think it is really special for me, special for Virat Kohli and all the fans who have supported us for years. They deserve this. I think after Qualifier 1, we were sure sort of doing this. I think 190 was a good score on this pitch. It was a bit slow. The way our bowlers executed their plans was tremendous to watch,” said Patidar.
The RCB captain signed off by saying,
“I just want to say one line for the fans – EE SALA CUP NAMDU!” said Patidar.
RCB became the 8th different team in the IPL to win the title.
