The second day at Greater Noida revealed a subtle shift across the infrastructure equipment industry. While trade shows traditionally celebrated brute horsepower, sheer tonnage and machine size, much of the conversation on September 16 centred on operational efficiency, digital intelligence and longer equipment life.
Conversations across the exhibition moved beyond the initial acquisition price towards lifecycle economics, component durability, uptime, operator assistance and the growing value of machine data.
Smarter Mining
Mining and quarrying continued to demonstrate why heavy equipment remained at the heart of India’s infrastructure ambitions, but the machines on display increasingly carried digital layers designed to support productivity, visibility and operating control.
Gainwell CAT brought heavy excavator capability into focus, reflecting the continuing demand for high-productivity equipment in demanding earthmoving and quarrying applications. SANY India similarly showcased equipment aimed at severe-duty applications, while digital visibility and operator-assistance technologies featured prominently across the exhibition.
Liebherr demonstrated the same convergence of mechanical capability and digital support across its construction and lifting portfolio, underlining how operator assistance, machine management and safety had become increasingly intertwined with conventional equipment engineering.
Practical Electrification
Electrification was visible across the show, but the discussion moved beyond simply displaying an electric machine. The more practical questions centred on where such equipment fitted into real fleets, how it could be charged, how operating cycles could be managed and what happened when utilisation and turnaround time became critical. Heavy-duty electric equipment displayed at the show therefore represented not merely a powertrain change, but a different operating equation for contractors and fleet owners.
Alongside this, the continued appearance of newer emission-compliant engines reinforced another transition: conventional power was not disappearing overnight, but the technology surrounding it was changing rapidly.
Urban Agility
The constraints of urban construction brought another dimension to the exhibition, with manufacturers demonstrating how equipment was adapting to increasingly restricted jobsites.
JCB’s 18Z mini excavator, with its zero-tail-swing configuration, illustrated the appeal of compact equipment for work in confined spaces, particularly where machines had to operate close to structures or within restricted utility corridors. Meanwhile, Action Construction Equipment brought similar versatility to the outdoor display through its range of compact and lifting equipment, reinforcing the idea that smaller footprints did not necessarily mean smaller ambitions.
Paving Precision
Roadbuilding brought the focus towards precision, productivity and better control of materials.
InfraServe Global, a Gainwell Group company, presented a portfolio spanning road and concrete applications. The emphasis was on equipment designed for Indian operating conditions and on technologies that could improve control, consistency and productivity.
The Pavers and Blocks Manufacturers Association added another layer to the conversation through its meeting and get-together, while the broader exhibition demonstrated how automation and process control were becoming increasingly important in construction-material production.
Component Longevity
Beneath the paint and sheet metal, component manufacturers provided a reminder that the economics of heavy equipment ultimately depended on what happened inside the machine.
Schaeffler India highlighted technologies spanning motion systems, lubrication, bearings and related solutions, while the wider component sector demonstrated the growing importance of localisation, durability and maintenance in India’s equipment ecosystem. Further, tyres and bearings received similar attention, reflecting the reality of heavy machinery: productivity was ultimately constrained by the durability of the components that kept a machine working.
Sustainable Engineering
The knowledge sessions running alongside the exhibition widened the discussion from machines to the infrastructure they ultimately served.
The Indian Demolition Association’s full-day conference, Engineering the Future of Deconstruction, addressed the evolving requirements around demolition, deconstruction, recycling and safety. The Indian Concrete Institute’s Delhi Chapter examined New Ingredients for Durable RCC for Longer Service Life, bringing material science and infrastructure longevity into the day’s discussions.
Taken together, Day Two suggested that the construction-equipment conversation was moving beyond the traditional fascination with size, horsepower and lifting capacity.
The bigger question was what a machine delivered over its operating lifetime — and how intelligently it used fuel, energy, components, data and human effort along the way.
That emerged as one of the more consequential themes at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026: industrial muscle remained very much on display, but increasingly it was being asked to think.
