Christiano Ronaldo scored a brace as he became the first player to score at six World Cups as Portugal saw off Uzbekistan 5-0 in Group K.
The 41-year-old scored early on from short range before Nuno Mendes made it two with a clever free-kick routine, as Ronaldo then made it three before the break.
After the restart, he came close to his hat-trick on a few ocacasions, but an Abduvohid Nenatov own-goal made it four. Rafel Leao then thumped home off the bench to add a fifth in a dominant showing.
The 41-year-old Ronaldo failed to score in Portugal’s first game as the team played to a surprising 1-1 draw with Congo. Portugal needed a win to improve its chances of advancing to the knockout round.
Uzbekistan is eliminated after yet another group stage loss.
