New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a four-day trip beginning Saturday to Uzbekistan to bolster bilateral ties and to Kyrgyzstan for the annual summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
In the first leg of the trip, Modi will visit Uzbekistan from August 29 to 30 to explore ways to further bolster the bilateral ties in diverse sectors, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
From Tashkent, the Prime Minister will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on the 31st of this month at the invitation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov.
The Secretary noted that during the two-day visit, Prime Minister Modi will address the Summit, where he will highlight India’s priorities of Security, Connectivity and Opportunity at the forum.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with SCO leaders on the sidelines of the Summit. He will also attend the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Central Asia.
External Affairs Ministry said that the Summit marks the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, of which India has been a full member since 2017.
From Tashkent, Modi will travel to Bishkek from August 31 to September 1 to participate in the 26th SCO Summit at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov.
India has been a full member of the SCO since 2017. At the summit, Modi is expected to address SCO leaders and highlight India’s priorities of security, connectivity and opportunity.
He is also likely to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of SCO member countries on the sidelines of the summit.
The Prime Minister will additionally attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, which showcases the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to deepen India’s strategic and economic ties with Uzbekistan and strengthen cooperation with Central Asian countries in areas including security, connectivity, trade, technology, education and culture.
