London: Rohit Sharma’s 138 and half-centuries from Virat Kohli  (74) and Shubman Gill (77) went in vain as England beat India by 27 runs in the third ODI and seal a 2-1 series win here on Sunday.

After conceding a mammoth 387 for three, India finished at 360/7.

Rohit struck 17 fours and five sixes to make 138 off 110 balls, while Kohli made 74 off 60 balls with four fours and three sixes. Gill fell for an 84-ball 77 with 10 fours and a six.

Sam Curran was the pick among bowlers for England, returning 4/75.

Earlier, Ben Duckett struck 141 while Jacob Bethell made 91 as England piled up a massive total in the series-deciding third and final ODI.

Brief scores: England 387/3 in 50 overs (Ben Duckett 141, Jacob Bethell 91, Joe Root 74 not out, Jos Buttler 41 not out; Arshdeep Singh 2/72) beat India 360/7 in 50 overs (Rohit Sharma 138, Shubman Gill 77, Virat Kohli 74; Sam Curran 4/75) by 27 runs.
