Nagpur:  Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, noted social activist Prakash Amte, and several film personalities mourned the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar on Thursday, remembering him not only as a towering figure in cinema but also as a compassionate voice for social causes.

Patekar, known for his versatility and powerful screen presence, passed away at his Goa residence in the early hours of Thursday.

His unexpected demise has triggered widespread grief across India. Prominent political leaders, social activists, and members of the film fraternity have poured in heartfelt tributes to honor his decades-long legacy as an unparalleled performer and dedicated philanthropist:
Celebrated as a versatile icon of Hindi and Marathi cinema, he was widely revered for his intense screen presence and sharp dialogue delivery in landmark films like Parinda, Krantiveer, Tirangaa, Natsamrat, and the comedy franchise Welcome. Over his career, he earned three National Film Awards and the prestigious Padma Shri in 2013.
Beyond the silver screen, Nana Patekar was deeply admired for his simplicity and profound social sensitivity. Through his co-founded Naam Foundation, he worked tirelessly for over a decade to support drought-hit farmers and their families across Maharashtra.
