Chaturdas Ji Maharaj Temple is located in Butati village near Kuchera on the Ajmer–Nagaur road in Rajasthan, Butati Dham is a unique spiritual centre dedicated to Sant Chaturdas Ji Maharaj. The shrine is particularly famous among devotees seeking relief from paralysis and other physical ailments. The main shrine is actually regarded as the samadhi of Sant Chaturdas Ji Maharaj.
The exact age of the present temple is not clearly established. Local tradition places Sant Chaturdas Ji Maharaj several centuries ago, with some accounts describing him as having lived around 400–500 years ago.
The principal shrine is the samadhi of Sant Chaturdas Ji Maharaj, a revered Charan saint and Siddha yogi. Devotees worship the saint and seek his blessings for health, protection and relief from suffering.
The temple is a relatively simple pilgrimage shrine surrounded by a walled complex. The sacred centre is the samadhi of Chaturdas Ji Maharaj, around which devotees perform the traditional Sapta Parikrama, or seven circumambulations.
According to local tradition, Chaturdas Ji Maharaj was born in the Charan community and lived at Butati several centuries ago. He was regarded as a deeply spiritual yogi who spent his life in prayer, meditation, and service to people.
The story of Butati Dham is closely associated with his compassion towards people suffering from paralysis. Tradition says that patients began approaching the saint seeking his blessings. Chaturdas Ji would reportedly use sacred ash from the havan fire and ask the afflicted person to circumambulate the shrine. As stories of people experiencing relief spread, Butati gradually became known as a place of faith for those suffering from paralysis.
According to the tradition followed at the Dham even today, devotees stay at Butati for seven days and perform the Sapta Parikrama. The daily ritual involves circumambulation after the morning and evening worship, with the complete seven-day observance being considered especially sacred. Many devotees believe that sincere faith and the blessings of Chaturdas Ji can bring relief from their suffering.
The saint is believed to have eventually attained samadhi at Butati. His samadhi became the principal shrine, and generations of devotees have continued to visit the Dham. Over time, the place developed into an important pilgrimage centre, particularly for families bringing relatives affected by paralysis. The temple also provides basic accommodation and food facilities for pilgrims, traditionally without charge.
Special gatherings are held on Ekadashi and Dwadashi, while fairs are also associated with the months of Vaishakh, Bhadrapada and Magha. Large numbers of devotees visit the Dham during these occasions to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Sant Chaturdas Ji Maharaj.
