Thiruvananthapuram: In a relief to kidney and liver patients and those suffering from certain genetic disorders, the Keralam government has allocated Rs 4.80 crore for the ‘Samashwasam’ scheme for 2026-27.
The scheme is implemented through the Kerala Social Security Mission under the Social Justice Department.
It provides monthly financial assistance to 3,640 eligible beneficiaries undergoing dialysis, those who have undergone kidney or liver transplants, and patients suffering from haemophilia, sickle cell disease and related conditions, Social Justice Minister V E Abdul Gafoor said in a statement.
The financial aid will cover patients undergoing dialysis, kidney or liver transplant recipients, and individuals suffering from hemophilia and sickle cell anemia.
To ensure swift and transparent financial support, the first installment covering four months of monthly assistance will be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The Samashwasam umbrella program historically operates via structured tiers, providing ₹1,100 per month for dialysis patients (Samashwasam I), ₹1,000 per month for transplant recipients (Samashwasam II), ₹1,000 per month for hemophilia patients (Samashwasam III), and ₹2,000 per month for sickle cell anemia patients (Samashwasam IV).
