Dr. Sandhya Rani Bombay
Greetings to all the followers of Orangenews9 on the occasion of our 80th Independence Day.
What stirred my poetic instinct was the Editor’s invitation to share my reflections and experiences on the remarkable journey of a nation that became free in 1947. Eight decades later, as Bharat stands at the threshold of a new era, this is what I wish to share with you all:
Once, Bharat was a flag in the sky,
A schoolground song, a child’s proud cry.
The Tricolour danced, the anthem rose,
A quiet love that every heart knows.
From ration lines to digital dreams,
From village lamps to satellite beams,
We rose through struggle, hope and flame,
And learned to lead in Bharat’s name.
With Ganga’s grace and Himalaya’s height,
With farms, labs, courage and light,
We carry shlokas, science and art,
Tradition in soul, progress in heart.
Yet love must also speak what is true:
There is still much work for us to do.
Let no one be left far behind,
Let harmony heal every mind.
Bharat is duty, seva and grace,
A mother’s care, a soldier’s face,
A teacher’s patience, a farmer’s hand,
The living spirit of this land.
At eighty years, we proudly stand,
Dreaming of a stronger, kinder land.
From a modern India, we now arise,
With rooted confidence beneath our skies.
Not merely a nation, but a civilisational call,
A Bharat that belongs to one and all.
Awakened in spirit, confident and free,
Becoming the Bharat we were meant to be.
Jai Hind!
