Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on Saturday issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting bids for franchise ownership in its upcoming T20 league, TG20, scheduled to debut in June 2026.

According to an official statement from TG T20 Governing Council Chairman V. Agam Rao, the move marks the beginning of the franchise acquisition process for the league, envisioned as a flagship cricket property in Telangana. The franchise-based tournament will be held under the aegis of the Hyderabad Cricket Association at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, with matches conducted in accordance with Board of Control for Cricket in India regulations and broadcast across multiple platforms.

The inaugural edition will feature eight teams, selected through a competitive bidding process from proposed regions including Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and others. A total of 32 matches will be played over a 21-day window, with up to two matches scheduled per day.

HCA said franchise rights will be awarded for an initial five-year term, with renewals every three years subject to compliance. The minimum base price for owning a team has been set at ₹3 crore, excluding GST and operational costs such as player salaries and logistics.

The deadline for EOI submissions is April 28, with shortlisting by April 30 and issuance of Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to qualified bidders by May 1.

Interested parties must meet eligibility criteria, including financial benchmarks and compliance norms. The evaluation process will be overseen by the TG20 Governing Council in consultation with Grant Thornton Bharat LLP.

HCA officials said the league aims to provide a high-performance platform for emerging talent while building a strong regional cricket ecosystem across Telangana.
