Erode (Tamil Nadu): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday held a roadshow here and hailed the “enthusiastic support” for the BJP.
The top BJP leader, from his campaign vehicle, sought votes for the BJP candidate Kiruthika in Modakkurichi constituency and appealed to the people to make her win with a massive margin.
He expressed confidence that NDA would form the government under the leadership of AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami.
This comes as part of a strategic plan for strengthening the presence of the NDA alliance in the textile capital of Tamil Nadu. Thousands of workers from both the parties have turned up to witness the arrival of this influential leader from the BJP.
The road show is after a series of high-energy rallies headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Coimbatore and Nagercoil, which highlight the BJP’s plan to emerge as a major player in Tamil Nadu.
As the Home Minister travels through Erode’s roads, the main issue still lies with the assurance provided by the NDA regarding economic development and efficient governance.
In light of the impending ‘silence period’ during which campaign activities will cease, today’s campaign at Erode, alongside the campaigns taking place in West Bengal, is the last desperate attempt by the political leaders.
