TCA Women’s League gets off to a lively start in Rangareddy district

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) Women’s Cricket League 2026 got off to an encouraging start here on Wednesday, with competitive cricket marking the opening day at TKR College of Engineering.

The opening fixtures produced spirited performances, with TCA Purple Peacocks and TCA Royal Falcons emerging victorious in their respective matches.

In the first match, TCA Golden Eagles posted 122 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. Meesha Sharon Jacob top-scored with 38, while T. Apoorva contributed 23.

In reply, TCA Purple Peacocks chased down the target with ease, reaching 123 for five in 17.3 overs to record a five-wicket victory. Srighna Vanamala anchored the chase with a valuable 23 and was adjudged Player of the Match for her contribution.

The second match turned out to be a much tighter affair, with TCA Royal Falcons edging past TCA Phonolix Risers by just two runs.

Batting first, Royal Falcons scored 84 for four in 15 overs, with Sunnam Tushara Rekha making a useful 28. Phonolix Risers fought hard in the chase but finished at 82 for eight in their allotted 15 overs. N. Manjula top-scored with 25.

Mamatha Charla of TCA Royal Falcons was named Player of the Match for her performance.

The TCA Women’s Cricket League is aimed at providing women cricketers with a structured and competitive platform while helping identify emerging talent from across the region. The opening day’s close contests and individual performances reflected the enthusiasm among the participating players and provided an encouraging start to the tournament.

With a series of matches lined up ahead, the league is expected to offer young and aspiring women cricketers valuable match exposure and an opportunity to develop their skills in a competitive environment.
