New Delhi: Premier batter Virat Kohli was on Sunday named in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against England next month, subject to fitness clearance, as the BCCI announced the team for the upcoming white-ball assignment.

The selection committee picked a 15-member squad for the ODI series, to be led by Shubman Gill, with Rohit Sharma also included.

Kohli’s inclusion remains dependent on a fitness clearance, according to a note issued by the BCCI along with the squad announcement.

The rest of the roster is largely on expected lines, with Shubman Gill leading the side and Shreyas Iyer being his deputy. KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan are the two wicket-keeping options, whereas Hardik Pandya will be missing from this tour due to a recently-surfaced injury.

Jasprit Bumrah has not played a single ODI since the World Cup final of 2023, and the forthcoming series will mark his return to the format.

Kuldeep Yadav will be spearheading the spin attack, and will secure support from the likes of Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Gurnoor Brar complete the pace attack. Yashasvi Jaiswal is missing from the contingent despite amassing a century in his last ODI against Afghanistan, with Rohit Sharma being backed to don the opener’s role alongside Gill.

India’s ODI squad: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli*, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar.
