PM Modi mourns passing of Asha Bhosle, calls her voice a national treasure

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle, describing her as one of the most iconic and versatile voices in Indian music and saying her extraordinary musical journey enriched the nation’s cultural heritage.

In a message posted on X, PM Modi said he was “deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji” and highlighted how her decades-long career touched millions of hearts across the world. He praised her soulful melodies and vibrant compositions, calling her voice one that carried “timeless brilliance.”

The Prime Minister also recalled his personal interactions with her and extended condolences to her family, admirers, and music lovers.

The veteran singer, widely regarded as one of the greatest voices in modern Indian music, has died at the age of 92, according to official and family confirmations.
