Cong leaders seek withdrawal of salary of KCR for not attending Assembly sessions

Hyderabad: Ruling Congress leaders in Telangana on Tuesday urged Legislative Assembly Speaker G Prasad Kumar to withdraw the salary of opposition leader K Chandrasekhar Rao as he has not been attending the Assembly sessions.

Congress Corporator in Hyderabad Daripally Raja Shekar Reddy and other leaders submitted a memorandum to the Speaker requesting “withdrawal of the salary” of Rao.

The budget session of the legislature will commence on Wednesday.

Last month, even the state Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said leader of the opposition K Chandrasekhar Rao must face the assembly and reply to the questions on his 10-year governance as CM.

“No doubt, it is his prerogative to attend or not attend or not attend the assembly sessions. He cannot be forced to come, but for the last year, he did not attend the session,” he said.

Meanwhile, the demand is growing among the Congress legislators who are asking the Speaker to stop the salary and other perks to the former chief minister. Even a practicing lawyer had also knocked the doors of the state high court to direct the state speaker.
