Panjim: Globally award-winning Kadamba Single-malt whisky makers– Cheers Group announced plans to invest in Goa’s first purpose-built carbon-neutral brewery on a greenfield vast site at Verna Industrial Estate, close to Dabolim Airport. The new facility will brew mild lagers and strong beers including leading international labels.
When fully operational with optimal capacity, it will probably be the best brewing facility and support the future growth of Cheers Group’s beer brands and the community.
In keeping with its commitment to excellence, Cheers Group has planned a large-scale greenfield Brewery project at the right time when domestic beer sales are encouraging. The group opines that greenfield units are more viable and the only option than acquisitions as there are no commercial Breweries except United Breweries in Goa that produce half the entire demand and the rest of the half comes from outside Goa to cater the rising beer demand.
Cheers Group for its brewery project has earmarked significant investment notably for power solar power plant. The green energy investment will help in the transition of its brewing to an eco-friendlier form of production and help it overcome any looming power cuts that may be a menace in shrinking profits.
Little wonder, that most of the international beer majors are already into India and few other global players are vying to enter the lucrative Indian booming beer market. Undoubtedly, Beer is quickly becoming a great success in India. With the increase in consumer incomes and the gradual liberalization of government policies, the demand for this beverage is encouraging.
Cheers Group, India’s luxury spirits conglomerate, having bagged over 200 National and International awards with a luxury portfolio valued at an impressive INR 750 Crores stands as a beacon of distinction. Cheers Group, under the visionary leadership of its founder Dr. Mohan Krishna Balivada, a trailblazer in the global whisky industry and Ashwin Balivada CEO of Cheers Group, has consistently excelled in the global beverage alcohol industry.
“Already few international beer players have aligned with us. Ensuring the quality of these additional brands can be challenging. Good beer, like most other good things, comes from high-quality raw materials and processes that work well” says Ashwin Balivada CEO of Cheers group who mastered Business Management from Cambridge University UK. “The raw materials for beer are simple: malt, hops, yeast, sugar syrup and water. All the ingredients would be matched to world-class quality. Water would be treated in a special system to meet International standard” adds he.
Cheers Group’s greenfield brewery project would feature a special technology – the high gravity line. This process has several advantages. For one, it reduces the number and size of tanks used in the mixing process. The brewery can generate more output from a smaller-sized brewhouse and fewer fermentation tanks. This results in huge cost savings.
“The brewhouse is particularly important because this is where the various materials are mixed in the right proportions and at the right temperatures. We prefer to put an automated brewhouse to ensure the right combination of temperature for different profiles of our beers” says Dr. Mohan Krishna Balivada, founder of Cheers Group and the World’s first alco-bev marketing Doctorate.
Further, there would be an Innovation, Research, and Development Hub in the Brewery complex for overall cost efficiency and to derive best International quality beer in terms of modern, smart, and green production, and the new plant would be a flagship!
