New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a high-level meeting with senior Union ministers and top government officials in New Delhi on Thursday, according to CNN-News18. The agenda of the meeting was not immediately known.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Health and Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister JP Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal are attending the meeting.
The Cabinet Secretary and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval are also present.
The meeting is taking place against the backdrop of a renewed escalation in West Asia, including fresh US strikes on Iran and continuing threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. It was not immediately clear whether these developments were on Thursday’s agenda.
