New Delhi: The hate came in droves — on social media, in office debates and drawing room conversations. The unlikely target? A 10-year-old labelled “arrogant”, “rude” and “budtameez” after his appearance on “Kaun Banega Crorepati”, gaining notoriety entirely out of sync with his age.
Gujarat boy Ishit Bhatt’s brisk confidence on the hot seat, telling host Amitabh Bachchan not to repeat the rules, answering before hearing the full question, and interrupting mid-sentence, became a flashpoint for furious discussion. Is it poor parenting? Is it the natural brashness of a bright boy? Should it be ignored, after all, he is just a child, or should it be addressed?
The questions came fast and furious, pitching the fifth grader into a trending topic. An apology letter, purportedly written by Bhatt and shared on an Instagram account @ishit_bhatt_official, along with a video, was widely reported. And then pulled down with the message that the account doesn’t exist.
An apology letter, purportedly posted on an Instagram account under Bhatt’s name, briefly appeared before the account was deleted.
Meanwhile, fake profiles of the boy spread widely online, amplifying the backlash. Experts have described this reaction as “deeply troubling” and warned that public shaming could have lasting psychological effects on such a young individual.
From a counselor’s perspective, labels—such as ‘arrogant’ and ‘disobedient’—can leave deep and lasting impressions on a young mind. Words carry weight. Repeated criticism risks instilling fear, shame, or self-doubt. At this age, children need empathy, understanding, and gentle guidance. Supportive environments help them grow resilient, confident, and emotionally healthy.
Let us remember: behind every child is a young, impressionable mind. A moment of kindness strengthens them; a moment of harshness can leave scars. It is our responsibility—whether as parents, teachers, or society—to guide, not condemn, and to nurture the emotional well-being that will shape the adults they become.
Amitabh Bachchan hosted KBC 17’s one of the latest episodes grabbed eyeballs because of a young contestant named Ishit Bhatt, as the rude and overconfident behavior of the fifth-grade student from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, with Big B made him the ‘most hated kid’ on social media.
As soon as Ishit Bhatt sat on the hot seat, his confidence soon turned into arrogance as he interrupted Big B and said, “Mere ko rules pata hai isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna (I know the rules, so don’t start explaining the rules to me right now.).”
The child was just excited, and probably that was his way of reacting to the situation. So, do not judge him and stop bullying him.
