Kerala HC grants bail to 17 accused PFI members in 2022 RSS leader murder case

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted bail to 17 accused PFI members in the 2022 murder case of RSS leader Srinivasan in Palakkad district of Kerala, who were also facing trial for allegedly instigating communal violence in the state as well as various parts of the country.

A bench of Justices A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Syam Kumar V M also upheld an NIA special court’s decision denying the relief to nine other PFI members who were also accused in the cases.

The high court’s 111-page order came on the appeals moved by the 26 accused against the special court’s orders denying them bail.

The decision was made by a division bench headed by Justice Jayasankaran Nambiar.

The bench imposed strict conditions on the 17 individuals who were granted bail. These conditions include a prohibition on leaving the state, the submission of their passports, and the restriction to use only one mobile number.

Additionally, the accused are required to keep the location services on their mobile phones activated at all times.

Of the 17 individuals granted bail, nine are directly charged with the murder of RSS leader Sreenivasan, while the remaining eight were implicated in various other cases linked to the PFI crackdown in the state.
