Hyderabad: The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has filed a chargesheet in court in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), citing an estimated loss of ₹92.8 crore during the tenure of its former president, Arshanapally Jagan Mohan Rao, and the then-Apex Council.

According to the 80-page preliminary chargesheet, the investigation was based on statements from 63 witnesses and a forensic audit. The allegations include forgery of documents to secure the HCA presidency, tender irregularities, discrepancies in ticket-sale accounts, questionable cricket-ball purchases and alleged misuse of players’ data.

The investigation followed a complaint by Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) president Dharam Guruva Reddy. The CID examined allegations that Jagan Mohan Rao secured his election through Srichakra Cricket Club using forged signatures attributed to Gowliguda Cricket Club president and former minister Krishna Yadav.

The chargesheet reportedly cites a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report confirming the alleged forgery and names Kavitha and Rajender Yadav in connection with the preparation of the disputed documents.

The CID attributed the alleged financial loss of ₹92.08 crore to financial transactions and supervisory lapses during Jagan Mohan Rao’s tenure from October 2023 to June 2025. The then-Apex Council included secretary Devaraj Ramchander, treasurer C. Jagannath Srinivasa Rao and CEO Sunil Kante. The forensic audit reportedly pointed to suspected financial misappropriation and possible kickbacks.

The chargesheet also raises questions over expenditure despite restrictions imposed by the High Court on HCA financial transactions. It states that ₹39.11 crore was spent between April 22 and July 2, 2025. During the India-England Test match, approximately ₹18.50 crore was reportedly withdrawn without adequate justification.

Tender-related allegations include the award of a generator-set contract to Powermac LLP despite its higher quotation, bypassing the lower bid submitted by Sujatha Electricals.

The chargesheet marks a significant development in the investigation into the functioning and financial management of the HCA. The allegations and findings will be subject to judicial scrutiny as the case proceeds.
