Hyderabad: Social activist Bakka Judson on Saturday urged Telangana Opposition parties to raise pressing public issues concerning students, unemployed youth, employees, pensioners, RTC workers, teachers, Home Guards and farmers during the Assembly session beginning September 7.
Addressing a Mock Assembly held at AK Bhavan Function Hall, Nimboliadda, Kacheguda, Judson said several resolutions were adopted on issues affecting different sections of society. He appealed to Opposition floor leaders to take up the issues in the Assembly and seek clear commitments and time-bound action from the Government.
Among the major demands are immediate release of pending student fee reimbursement, filling of vacant Government posts, payment of ₹4,000 unemployment allowance, conduct of Mega DSC recruitment and filling of SI and Constable vacancies. He also sought recruitment of RTC drivers and Shramiks through the TGRTC/TGSRTC rather than through police recruitment.
Judson demanded implementation of PRC and 6% DA for employees and pensioners, release of pending retirement benefits, settlement of dues to deceased retired employees, and measures to strengthen the Employees Health Scheme and restore the Old Pension Scheme wherever applicable.
He also sought job security, pay scales and health benefits for Home Guards, equal pay for equal work and job security for outsourcing employees, regularisation of eligible Samagra Shiksha and Srinidhi employees, and implementation of Government commitments concerning Uphadi/VB-G RAM-G workers.
On farmers, Judson demanded restoration of eligible assigned lands, return of unutilised TGIIC lands to eligible farmers, release of eligible Dalit Bandhu funds and implementation of Rajiv Yuva Vikasam. He also sought compensation and EMI relief for eligible families affected by HYDRAA actions.
Judson called for an Assembly debate on alleged business interests in the Aerospace and Defence sector involving Anumula Kondal Reddy, brother of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He said any discussion should be based on official records relating to Government contracts, land allotments, permissions, incentives and other decisions, with matters requiring scrutiny being referred to competent authorities.
He also demanded a detailed debate on Section 22-A, including its legal basis, implementation and reported impact on large tracts of land, particularly in relation to farmers, assigned lands and property transactions.
“Public issues should not remain unresolved. Our demands are public rights, not favours. The Government must give clear answers, while the Opposition has a responsibility to raise these issues in the Assembly,” Judson said.
He warned that if the Government failed to take a clear stand and the Opposition did not raise the issues during the Assembly session, he would begin an indefinite hunger strike from September 8 as a peaceful democratic protest.
“People’s power will prevail. We will continue our peaceful struggle for justice, employment, education, employee rights and the future of Telangana,” he said.
