Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has identified nearly 50 lakh children below the age of five years for polio vaccination on June 28 as part of National Immunization Day.
The drive aims to administer two drops of bivalent oral polio vaccine (bOPV) to all eligible children in the zero to five age group, said an official press release on Friday.
“Government of Andhra Pradesh has put in place a comprehensive, state-wide action plan for the successful conduct of the National Immunization Day — Pulse Polio Programme — on 28 June 2026, covering every eligible child in the age group of 0–5 years with two drops of bOPV,” it said.
The district has identified 1,89,712 children in the 0-5 age group as beneficiaries. Authorities will set up 1,062 polio booths, 62 transit booths, and 94 mobile booths across the district
He also told Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials to involve Anganwadi workers and supervisors in booth management and house-to-house surveys. Stocks of 2,09,653 bOPV doses have been arranged, and 49 cold-chain units will ensure proper storage and distribution of the vaccine.
The Collector called for wide public awareness campaigns through several platforms and directed officials to set up transit booths at bus and railway stations to reach children travelling with their families.
