Hyderabad: The much-anticipated TG20 League, an ambitious initiative of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, has officially taken a major step forward with the Governing Council of the tournament announcing the commencement of player registrations for the 2026 season.
The TG20 Governing Council, headed by Agam Rao, formally opened registrations for aspiring cricketers across various divisions affiliated with the HCA. The proposed tournament is expected to be conducted during June and July 2026 and is aimed at creating a competitive platform for talented local players.
In an official statement issued in the early hours of Saturday, the Governing Council said registrations are now open for eligible HCA-registered players.
“The Governing Council is pleased to announce that player registrations are now open for the upcoming TG20 League 2026, proposed to be conducted during June–July 2026,” the statement said.
The organisers stated that the league has been designed with the objective of identifying, supporting and promoting talented cricketers by providing them with a professional environment to showcase their abilities.
“The TG20 aims to provide players an opportunity to compete at a high level and gain recognition from selectors, franchises and cricket followers across the country. Whether you are an emerging cricketer or an experienced player, TG20 offers a valuable opportunity to be part of a prestigious T20 competition,” the statement added.
Eligibility Criteria
According to the Governing Council, the following categories of players are eligible to register for the TG20 League 2026:
- Players must be duly registered with the HCA and satisfy the domicile criteria prescribed by the association.
- Players should be at least 16 years of age, born on or before August 31, 2010.
- Players should not be older than 36 years, born on or after August 31, 1990.
- All HCA A Division and B Division players registered for the 2026–27 season are eligible.
- HCA C Division players registered for the 2025–26 season can also apply.
The registration process will be conducted online through the official TG20 portal.
Players have been advised to complete their registration through the official website, TG20, and update their profiles with the latest photographs during the application process.
The organisers further clarified that the online system will automatically verify the eligibility of applicants before allowing them to proceed with the registration.
The last date for submission of applications has been fixed as May 25, 2026, at 6 PM. Players have been advised to complete the process well before the deadline, as late applications may not be entertained.
The launch of the TG20 League is being viewed as a significant move by the HCA towards creating a structured T20 ecosystem for local cricketers and providing a bigger stage for emerging talent from Telangana.
