Lucknow:  The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court will hear on May 12 a plea seeking probe against former Congress president and the current Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.

A bench comprising Justices Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Zafeer Ahmad passed the order on a petition filed by S Vignesh Shishir, a BJP worker from Karnataka.

The court will hear arguments on the maintainability of the plea during the next hearing.

The petition, officially submitted on April 25, has named several key entities as respondents, including the Central government, Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Uttar Pradesh Police, and the Director of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office.

The court, which initially addressed the matter on a previous date, is yet to upload its order to its website, although the case is scheduled for admission on May 12.
