Birbhum/Rajiganj: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said the people of West Bengal will reply to bombs and bullets with votes, and pledged the BJP would “hang the syndicate and cut money promoters upside down to make them straight” once the voters “bid adieu to the TMC government”.
Addressing poll rallies in Mayureshwar and Khayrasole areas of Birbhum district and in Paschim Bardhaman’s Raniganj, he said the writing on the wall is that the BJP will form a government in Bengal as the people of the state have decided to bid “Ta Ta Bye Bye” to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.
“Let the people bid adieu to the Mamata government. The BJP will then take up the task of hanging the syndicate and cut-money promoters upside down to make them straight,” Shah said.
“Riots broke out in Murshidabad under your rule. Where were you then? Attacks were carried out during Ram Navami under your rule. Where were you then?… There is no need to fear Didi. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the BJP will come to power,” he said.
Stating that the Election Commission has deployed more than 800 companies to ensure free and fair elections, Shahd said, “Trust me on this, on 23 April, none of Mamata’s goons will be able to harm you…
The goons of TMC will no longer be able to terrorise the people of Bengal with their bomb blasts. The people of Bengal will respond to bombs with ballots and to fear with trust. TMC goons should stay home on polling day, else they will be sent to jail after May 4.”
The Union Minister also flagged how the ruling TMC government was refusing to provide land for building borders.
“600 acres of land is required, but the TMC is not giving land to the BSF for border fencing. Because of this, infiltration is taking place…the BJP will work to identify and remove every infiltrator. After the formation of our government in West Bengal within 45 days, land will be given for fencing along the state border. We will remove illegal immigrants not only from West Bengal but from the entire nation,” said Amit Shah.
The Home Minister also slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing the TMC government of failing to ensure women’s safety in the state.
Shah slammed Banerjee’s remarks advising women not to step out after 7 pm, following the RG Kar rape case. “Didi says women should not step out after 7 pm. Mamata didi had some shame, despite being a woman Chief Minister yourself, you couldn’t protect the sister of Bengal,” he said.
Projecting the BJP as an alternative, Shah said to the audience, “You just give the BJP a chance…we will make such a Bengal where even a little girl can ride out on a scooter at 1 am at night. No Sandeshkhali, RG Kar, Durgapur Law College or South Kolkata Law College-like incident will happen.”
Shah also said how the ‘syndicate culture’ is thriving under the current dispensation. “These TMC goons, who roam in black-tinted glasses and extort cut money, cannot see the water problem in Mayureswar. There is cut money and corruption in every scheme, recruitment, transfers, postings, sand, and coal. This entire cut money system has been run by Mamata Banerjee and her nephew. After 5 May, the BJP will work to eliminate commission and syndicate systems from Bengal.”
He also reiterated the party’s commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code in West Bengal, stating, “The BJP will bring UCC in Bengal, and after the implementation of UCC, the practice of four marriages will come to an end.”
Urging voters to look for and press the lotus symbol on the ballot machine, Shah said, “Brothers and sisters, this time Birbhum has to create a record. All 11 seats must go to the BJP. After May 4, a double-engine government will be formed in Bengal, and a new
of development will begin in the state.”
The 294-member West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
