Jammu: Security forces and police conducted a joint search operation in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district as part of heightened vigilance along the International Border (IB), officials said on Wednesday.
“BSF troops and the Border Police Post carried out a joint search operation in village Bhattal Chak, the depth area of Chandwan, Marheen (Kathua),” an official said.
The search operation aimed to strengthen border security efforts, they added.
The official said that the search operation concluded peacefully, and security forces reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the region and ensuring public safety.
With the onset of winters, terrorists from Pakistan often try to sneak into this side of the border and further reach the high mountainous areas of the region. These terrorists are trained in subversive activities by Pakistan. Multiple encounters between security forces and terrorists have taken place in the higher reaches of Kathua district in the past one year.
As the fog has begun to set near the border fence, the BSF has deployed tactical instruments to detect the movement that are not visible to the naked eye. The security forces have also set up anti-drone technology at the border to detect and destroy the Pakistani drones used to send weapons and drugs inside the Indian side.
