Hyderabad: In a bid to promote millets as the food of the future, the poster of “Millets, The Best Food – Pragati Utsava Dinotsavam” was formally launched today at the Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), here. The unveiling was done by Dr. J. Stanley, CEO of Nutrihub – TBISC, a unique DST-supported Technology Business Incubator hosted at IIMR.
Nutrihub is India’s first-of-its-kind incubator exclusively focused on supporting startups in the nutricereals sector. The initiative has played a crucial role in nurturing entrepreneurship and boosting the climate-resilient millet movement nationwide.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Stanley lauded the work of Millets National Media Portal – www.millets.news – and expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations aimed at expanding millet adoption and entrepreneurial opportunities across India. He assured the portal’s Chairman, Prasanna Srinivas Sarakadam, of Nutrihub’s support for aligned initiatives.
Marking a significant announcement, Sarakadam declared that June 5th will now be celebrated every year as “Millets, The Best Food – Pragati Utsava Dinotsavam.” The annual observance aims to unite farmers, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers to push forward the millet mission in India and raise awareness about its nutritional and ecological benefits.
Also present at the event were Dr. Monica Sravanthi, Coordinator of the HNA Council, and Ms. Ankita Upadhyay, Coordinator of Nutrihub Training Programs, both of whom pledged their support to the nationwide millet empowerment campaign.
The initiative reflects growing momentum around millets, particularly in light of India’s efforts to position them as a sustainable, health-friendly food choice, in line with climate-conscious agriculture and nutritional security goals.
