Hyderabad: In a bid to accomplish gender equality, it is necessary to ensure a girl to school and performs to her potential. But, due to inadequate facilities, especially menstrual hygiene, much-needed attention was drawn to this factor.
Addressing such an important component, the NTPC SRHQ under its CSR Program, on Tuesday disbursed 9 sanitary Vending machines, along with Incinerators to Govt schools and colleges in the city, as part of its first phase initiative.
Debashish Chattopadhyaya, RED (South) distributed the vending machines and incinerators here at NTPC in the presence of Deputy District Education Officer (Musheerabad zone) S.Chiranjeevi.
A total of 5000 sanitary pads were also provided to each school and college along with the machines. Chattopadhyay stated that menstrual hygiene in schools is a basic necessity to enable girls to have better accessibility to quality and break-free education.
SN Panigrahi, GM (HR) SRHQ shared that NTPC’s key areas under CSR are health education and sanitation. “This initiative is a part of it”, he made it clear. He also shared that they will distribute similar vending and incinerators to other schools and colleges in the city in the second phase.
Chiranjeevi, who was Guest of Honor, at the simple function, appreciated the NTPC’s concern and efforts to improve girls’ education and health in the state of Telangana.
