Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned those who dismissed allegations of adulteration in the sacred Srivari Laddu at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). BJP state spokesperson N.V. Subash on Tuesday welcomed the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) Special Investigation Team (SIT) for taking swift action and arresting four officials allegedly involved in the scam.
The scandal, which reportedly took place under the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, involved replacing the Karnataka-based ghee supplier with a Chennai-based company under questionable circumstances. Despite the previous TTD administration defending its decision, the current government under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ordered a CBI probe in response to opposition demands.
The SIT’s investigation has uncovered serious lapses in TTD’s e-tendering process. The Remand Report confirms adulteration in the ghee supplied to TTD, implicating AR Dairy, Vaishnavi Dairy, and Bhole Baba Dairy.
Subash emphasized that the BJP, as an ally of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led Andhra Pradesh government, will ensure that all those responsible—no matter how powerful—are held accountable. He also noted that the TTD administration had earlier identified and removed 16 officials belonging to non-Hindu faiths from its ranks.
“This scam has not only tarnished the sanctity of Srivari Laddu but has deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees,” Subash stated, calling for the strictest action against all guilty parties.
