World Leaders Hail Modi’s 25 Years in Public Office

World leaders and international figures congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 7, 2026, for marking 25 years in public service as head of government, tracing his tenure from when he first took oath as Gujarat’s Chief Minister on October 7, 2001.

According to official and public announcements shared by the ruling party and media channels, several global leaders acknowledged the milestone:

Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni congratulated PM Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.

Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extended greetings and voiced a commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

From the European Union, former Portuguese PM and EU representative Antonio Costa praised his leadership and EU-India relations.

Australia’s former Prime Minister Tony Abbott sent congratulatory messages on the historic tenure.

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay greeted him, referring to him warmly in personal terms.

Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu offered congratulations, emphasizing regional cooperation and mutual respect.

Other leaders who sent their message are: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Nigeria), President William Saoei Ruto (Kenya), Chancellor Friedrich Merz (Germany), and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis  (Greece).

Meanwhile, some TV channels claimed that the US President, Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and even Chinese President Xi Jinping also greeted the Prime Minister.
