Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Tuesday concluded his fast, vowing to continue the party’s struggle for the release of pending dues of students’ tuition fee reimbursement by the Congress government.

BJP MP K Laxman offered lemon juice to Rao, marking the end of the fast.

Hitting out at the Congress government, Laxman said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is making tall claims about improving education in the state without addressing basic issues.

The BJP claimed that tuition fee reimbursement and scholarship arrears totaled between ₹12,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore.

Up to 20 lakh to 40 lakh students from marginalized and weaker sections (SC, ST, BC, EBC) were reportedly affected by delayed payments.

Private colleges had been withholding original course certificates and facing acute financial strain, preventing them from regularly paying staff salaries.
