Chennai: DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin would launch his first phase of election campaign from Tiruvarur constituency on March 31 for the upcoming Assembly polls, the party said on Sunday.
Tiruvarur is the hometown of late DMK patriarch and former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Stalin will seek votes for the candidates of DMK and alliance parties, a party press release said.
The CM would take up campaigning from March 31 to April 2, canvassing votes for DMK and the candidates of its led Secular Progressive Alliance.
On Tuesday, he would canvass votes for candidates contesting from Thiruthuraipoondi, Tiruvarur, Nannilam, Mannarkudi constituencies at Tiruvarur South Mada Street.
On April 1, he would take part in a public meeting at Tiruchirappalli Uzhavar Sandhai canvassing votes for party candidates contesting from assembly segments including Tiruchirappalli West and East, Tiruverumbur and Lalgudi.
Later that day, he would address a public meeting at Rayanur in Karur, the release said.
On April 2, he would lead a public meeting in Erode-Sithodu, campaigning for the SPA candidates.
On the same day, at a public meeting in Coimbatore CODISSIA ground, he would seek votes for candidates of Sulur, Coimbatore West, Coimbatore South, Singanallur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi and Valparai constituencies, the release said.
Elections to 234 Assembly seats in the state will be held on April 23.
