New Delhi: The Ministry of Power has extended the timeline seeking stakeholders’ comments on the Draft National Electricity Policy 2026 by one month till March 19.
The timeline has been extended on the request of several stakeholders who have sought additional time to examine the provisions of the draft electricity policy, the Ministry said in a notification dated February 25.
Earlier, the last date to submit comments and suggestions was February 19.
According to an official communication issued from Shram Shakti Bhawan, the Ministry decided to extend the deadline after receiving multiple requests from stakeholders seeking more time to review the document in detail. The revised deadline for submitting comments is now March 19, 2026.
The notification, signed by Under Secretary Vikash Khichi, was sent to several key institutions and industry bodies. These include the Secretaries of various ministries, the Chairman of the Railway Board, the Central Electricity Authority, and heads of state electricity regulatory commissions. Prominent industry associations such as FICCI, CII, and ASSOCHAM were also informed.
The extension is expected to encourage wider participation and ensure a more comprehensive and inclusive final version of the National Electricity Policy. The Ministry has directed its technical team to update the official website to reflect the revised deadline.
