Responding to an article written by an aggrieved parent in these columns under the title “Hyderabad Women’s Cricket Hit by Selection Rot,” the father of the Hyderabad U-19 captain, Veeresh, writes:
“A few parents have made unwarranted and baseless allegations against me, accusing me of acting as a ‘broker’ in the selection of the state’s U-19 team. I categorically and squarely deny all such allegations.
As a matter of fact, I have sacrificed much in my life for my daughters. I work as a watchman in an apartment, and I know only hard work. If those making such accusations have any concrete proof against me, let them produce it before the police or any legal authority.
At the same time, I appeal to all parents not to level allegations against anyone without proper evidence, especially against me. I firmly reiterate that I have always believed in hard work, not shortcuts or unfair means to secure favours.
I also reiterate through these columns that I do not know any of the newly selected U-19 players in the recent squad. I sincerely hope that parents whose daughters did not get selected do not sling mud at others unnecessarily.”
