29 passengers escape unhurt as private bus catches fire in Telangana

Hyderabad: A private bus caught fire on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway in the Nalgonda district of

Telangana in the small hours of Tuesday, police said.

However, none of the 29 passengers were injured in the incident that occurred in Chityal mandal at around 1.45 AM when the bus was proceeding to Kandukur in Andhra Pradesh from Hyderabad.

Reports said the air-conditioned sleeper coach operated by Vihari travels began its ill-fated journey around midnight in Hyderabad and had reached the Veliminedu village in Chityal mandal when fire broke out.

The alert driver woke up the passengers, who jumped out of the vehicle just in time by breaking open the window panes. Within minutes fire engulfed the entire bus and it was reduced to a mangle of metal. There were 20 passengers in the bus, initial reports said. The bus was registered in Nagaland.
