Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh pulled his mentee Abhishek Sharma’s leg on Tuesday, after the latter smacked a 15-ball 50 and eventually a 35-ball 100 against New Zealand in the third T20I, as Yuvraj’s 12-ball 50 against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup remained on top of the record books.

Abhishek brought up his hundred off just 35 deliveries before breaking into his now-famous meditation pose, leaving the opposition and spectators stunned by his explosive power-hitting.

India thus registered their third successive T20I series victory in New Zealand, having swept the hosts 5-0 in 2020 before clinching the 2022 series 1-0.

“You still can’t get 50 of 12, can you 😜 @OfficialAbhi04! Looks like two left-handers batting in their backyard,” Yuvraj tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

“I mean, I have said this before as well. I don’t know what cricket he was playing back at that time, but it isn’t that easy at all. And I would say if any batter wants to go there and bat like that, it isn’t easy at all,” Abhishek replied to the tweet during the post-match presentation.

“And I can’t make 100 off 30 or 34 balls. Well played, sir @OfficialAbhi04! Great innings aur apne single bhi le liye 🤷🏻‍♂️,” Yuvraj put out a second X post soon after.

The 15-year-old Sooryavanshi matched the aggression with a blistering 45 off 18 deliveries, though Abhishek’s fireworks stole the spotlight as India smashed records with the fastest team hundred in just five overs and a powerplay total of 118.
