New Delhi: Vedanta Ltd on Friday said it has been declared the successful bidder for the Punnam manganese block in Andhra Pradesh.
Spread over 152 hectares, the block is currently at the G4 stage of exploration, which is the initial phase of mineral exploration focusing on broad-scale geological surveys to identify potential minerals.
“The company has been declared as the successful bidder in respect of Punnam Manganese Block in the state of Andhra Pradesh after fulfilling required statutory compliances via letter dated August 13, 2026,” Vedanta Ltd said in a filing to BSE.
Vedanta said the acquisition will further strengthen its diversified metals and mining portfolio while supporting India’s growing manganese requirements by enhancing domestic resource availability and reducing dependence on imports.
The development comes as India seeks to strengthen domestic supplies of key minerals and reduce reliance on imports for critical industrial inputs.
Q1 Results
Vedanta reported a resilient set of earnings for the June quarter, its first quarterly results since completing the demerger, with stronger operating profitability and wider margins helping offset a marginal sequential decline in revenue.
Profit for the quarter stood at ₹5,294 crore, compared with ₹4,267 crore in the preceding quarter.
Revenue declined 1.6% sequentially to ₹24,205 crore from ₹24,609 crore. However, improved operational efficiency supported a stronger bottom line.
EBITDA rose 13% quarter-on-quarter to ₹8,501 crore from ₹7,559 crore, while EBITDA margin expanded to 35.1% from 30.7%.
Vedanta shares were down 1.24% at ₹267.75 apiece on the NSE at 3:19 pm on Friday. The stock has gained 0.35% over the past month but remains down 55.42% year-to-date.
