Udhayanidhi calls Guv’s address TVK ‘social media reel’, protests at Secretariat

Chennai: Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday dismissed the Tamil Nadu governor’s address to the Legislative Assembly as fodder for the ruling party’s “social media reels”, saying it fell far short of a vision document for the state’s development.

The DMK leader alleged that Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar had read out the government’s report verbatim — without changing so much as a comma or a full stop—laying bare, he said, the “clandestine” alliance between the BJP and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

He said the address had glossed over pressing public grievances—frequent power outages, deteriorating law and order, rising incidents of sexual assault, and the agrarian crisis—without offering solutions to any of them.

The demonstration occurred just before Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar delivered his maiden address to the House, outlining the state’s development blueprint under the new administration.
